When the moonlight of a thousand-year-old ancient capital meets the dazzling lights of modern technology; when the splendid melodies of the Tang Dynasty court collide with the wave of immersive performance innovation — a breathtaking cultural and tourism feast ignites the city’s passion for its heritage. On April 25, Vanyee empowered the Jiuzhou Pond Scenic Area in Luoyang with cutting-edge light and shadow technology, debuting the grand palace garden live-action performance Phoenix Dance in the Divine Capital. This audiovisual spectacle blending past and present redefined a new height for cultural tourism in the ancient capital.
Luoyang, a historic city that has witnessed the rise and fall of thirteen dynasties, is a place where every brick tells a story, and every tree holds ancient charm. But for Vanyee , a “dream builder” deeply rooted in the cultural tourism field, the true challenge and opportunity lies in how to awaken and modernize these millennia-old cultural treasures.
With the mission of "awakening cultural genes through technology", we delved into the ruins of the Sui and Tang dynasties, drawing inspiration from ancient architectural textures and garden layouts. We chose to use light and shadow as our brush to paint the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty in a real garden setting.
On opening night, the garden under the night sky became an entrance to a time tunnel. Laser lights, 3D projections, and other light technologies merged deeply with the pavilions and flowing waters. Moonlight turned into a natural spotlight, grey tiles into a massive screen, and actors in lavish traditional costumes stepped gracefully into the light.
The grandeur of foreign envoys during Empress Wu Zetian’s reign, the splendor of imperial banquets, and the elegance of Tang poets and scholars — all were brought vividly to life through the flow of light and shadow. Once cold and distant in historical texts, these moments became tangible and immersive through technology, allowing the audience to feel the heartbeat of the Tang Dynasty.
The atmosphere was electric. Audiences eagerly raised their phones to capture the stunning moments, exclaiming, “It’s like I just entered the Tang Dynasty’s version of social media!” One excited visitor remarked, “Visiting gardens used to be about admiring the scenery. Now, I feel like I’m part of a Tang Dynasty story, following the plot through the light and shadow!”
This reflects Vanyee core vision — we are not just creating a show, but building a deeply engaging “cultural immersion space” where history is no longer distant and culture becomes tangible and accessible.
We firmly believe that culture is the root and technology the wings. Only through their deep integration can we inject new vitality into the traditional cultural tourism industry. In Luoyang, we used light and shadow to transcend the limits of time and space, showcasing the charm of the ancient capital in the most dazzling way, and contributing a brilliant chapter to Henan’s cultural tourism sector.
Looking ahead, Vanyee will continue to drive innovation and leverage technology to write new chapters in cultural tourism across more cities. We look forward to illuminating each city with imaginative light and shadow creations, making the dialogue between history and modernity even more vibrant and inspiring.
